What is J-1 Summer Work and Travel Program?

About J-1 SWT Program

This enables College and University students enrolled full time and pursuing studies at post-secondary accredited academic institutions located outside the United States come to the United States to share their culture and ideas with people of the United States through temporary work and travel opportunities.


This program is 3 to 4 months long depending on the country you are from and the length of your University semester break. 

  

Benefits

The Summer Work Travel program provides foreign students with an opportunity to live and work in the United States during their summer vacation from college or university to experience and to be exposed to the people and way of life in the United States.


Program Requirements:

  • Participant must be 18 or older
  • Participant G.P.A must be 2.0 or more
  • Participant should be a full-time student enrolled in an accredited, classroom based, post-secondary educational institution
  • Have successfully completed at least one semester 
  • Participant should be able to demonstrate sufficient funding to cover their travel and living expenses
  •  Have sufficient English skills to train in an English speaking environment 


How to register for the program?


Step 1: Pay Registration and Orientation fee of US$50.00 


Step 2:  Complete Registration form and submit the below required documents along with the form:

  

Registration Requirements: ​

  • Two (2) passport size pictures
  • Resume (Must be completed on MaxJ Template)
  • Copy of information section in valid passport
  • Copy of School ID
  • Copy of recent      Background Check (Police Record)
  • Certified (Signed and Stamped) student Status Letter from  Institution
  • Official University/College Transcript (GPA must be at least 2.0)


Program Options:

Full-Placement- for prospective participants who need MaxJ’s assistance with searching for an employer that is eligible to hire Summer Work Travel participants. 


Self-Arranged- Unfortunately, we no longer offer self-placement.


Please Note: Program fee is subjected to change without notice depending on Sponsor fees, and participant must bring in their original copy of bank receipts to the office. Additionally, no jobs are secured until full payment of the program fee.


What are Program Fee Includes:

  • DS-2019 Form
  • SEVIS Fee
  • Health Insurance
  • Eligibility screening of your employer
  • Preparation for your visa interview at the U.S. Embassy
  • Pre-departure orientation

 

Not Included in Program Fee:

  • Visa Appointment Fee
  • Airfare
  • Housing Expenses

Promotions and Discounts:

  • For each person you refer to the program you will receive a commission of US$5.00 per person. (Please Note: The person you refer must travel on the program with us to receive the commission)
